Conflict of Interest Policies and Documents

A conflict of interest occurs when a person or an organisation that is entrusted with impartiality has multiple interests, at least one of which could potentially alter their behaviour or conduct.

To be considered neutral and independent in its activities, an organisation needs to protect itself from decision-making that is biased in favour of the interests of those making such decisions.

Such interests – either actual or perceived – must be disclosed in writing and the individual should be prohibited from making decisions on any matter in which there is a conflict.
