Whistleblowing is the reporting of suspected fraud, bribery, corruption, misconduct, failure to act, or other violations of policies, procedures or national law to the appropriate authorities, often risking the financial security of the whistleblower in an effort to stop harmful actions which are contrary to the interests of the organisation or the public, or both. Such policies aim to protect the vulnerable from harm, to stop wrongdoing, and to hold those in powerful positions to account for their actions and decisions.
